Early in the world of the Tribeca Loft craze of NYC we were heavily involved with loft conversions. This meant helping developers take raw industrial buildings that had fallen on hard times as the manufacturing business left Manhattan for cheaper space. This particular loft was located just south of the Holland Tunnel. Our client was an artist and was able to purchase the 2500 sf penthouse that came with a 1500 sf roof for $300,000.

He was on a tight budget, but wanted the sophistication of an Uptown apartment. So, with simple details and stock millwork, we did just that. He was so happy with our work, we did another loft together as well as a chain of restaurants. To this day we are still very close friends. You can only imagine how much he sold this loft for fifteen years later…
