CONTEMPORARY TWO-STORY STUDIO: Englewood, NJ

This client, a successful designer in the New York area, gave Andrew a challenge: to create a one-of-a-kind house that would fit within a traditionally suburban New Jersey neighborhood. Situated on a long and narrow lot, Andrew created a clean stucco box with wood veneered “nests” that hang off the stucco core, giving more usable space on the ground and second levels. He designed a massing that resembled an organic outcropping and introduced a five-story, floating stainless steel stair within a glass enclosure that connected the lower level garage to the hot tub on the roof.
