CONNECTICUT RESIDENCE: Salisbury, CT

A friend of ours, and former client in NYC, had a close acquaintance who bought an old schoolhouse in CT. The location was lovely, the local town cozy, the house… A mess. It had been lived in by an elderly couple who hadn’t noticed the disrepair that crept in over the years. We needed to bring back the life that had once been there.

Having been a small rural school where the teacher also lived, this building enabled us to create living spaces within the classrooms and re-establish the flavor of the original “art and crafts” architectural style. That, along with updated mechanical systems, insulated windows, roofs that did not leak and the repair of the many pathways the local squires had created over the years of their occupancy. The end result was charming and elegant.
